I have a zv5000 Pavilion with the same problem mentioned. I check around the local shops, and they all told me I need to replace the motherboard, and quoted me a lot of money. HP wanted me to send them my laptop, but told me they would format my harddrive, and would probably replace the motherboard.

Speedfan evidently doesn't "read" this HP Pavilion laptop properly, though it shows HD temp numbers. Speedfan says everything else including the CPU is at in a laptop like this ZV5000. I looked, and couldn't find anything. Try Hmonitor (Google). It is a tiny bit more flexible than is speedfan for notebook use.
